Chapter News
Wow! What a get-together! 50 Riders met at the Tiger tavern in Osmond NE on the 24th. Bob the owner told me that he thought everyone had Cabin Fever and I had to agree. Told him we couldn’t meet there anymore if we get any bigger and he said he’ll close the place down for us and have a buffet if need be. We want to thank Roger and Joyce Tacey and Dennis and Sharon Schultze for hosting the evening. They purchased a slice of pie for everyone. The food and pie is always delicious and the service is timely. We introduced some new members and welcomed them to our Chapter. They are Randy and Karen Halpin from Battle Creek and we are very pleased to welcome them to our Chapter and hope they can ride with us this summer. We also did introductions all the way around as we had a lot of new and older member with us who don’t know each other too well yet. Hang out with Chapter NE and you will get to know each other and have another family and group of friends!
Next we had the privilege of presenting
our new Chapter Couple of the Year for 2010. They are Holly and
Gretchen Holiday. We are so pleased and proud that they our
Chapter NE’s newest COY couple! They help out with the
newsletter monthly and help by keeping the personal data on the
members. They are in the Levels program and are great friends
and fun people to ride with. They go to a lot of the chapter
events and some of the other rallies and events and are always
willing to lend a helping hand where it is needed.
Congratulations Holly and Gretchen!

Gee Whiz we might just have the chance to get our Babies out this weekend. We probably can't go too far but at least we may get a short ride. Take a minute and check over those emergency information papers that we all carry in the left-fairing pocket. Might just be such a thing that you became allergic to a medicine or maybe your home and phone number changed and this is all necessary information if you have that accident. I know that we would all like to think that this will never happen to me or you but YOU NEVER KNOW. Also make sure that you have ICE on your cell phone. ICE stands for IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. All you need to do is put ICE in front of the name of the person that is to be first contacted in case of an accident (i.e. ICE BILL SMITH) followed by his phone number. If you get a new cell phone there may be 3 ICE spaces available. Thank You. Dallas

March LTD Newsletter: OCP
Nancy and I participated in the first Region E OCP (Officer Certification Program) presented in Davenport IA. There were about 60 attendees, which included District Directors, their Assistants plus the Region Operations Team, and 12 OCP trainers from 6 states in the Region [ND & SD don’t have LTD Trainers]. What was interesting was seeing people’s perception before and after the one and a half day class and then their reactions during and at the end of the program. Everyone seemed to have a new outlook on the program as well as their positions. We came away not only believing every member deserves a well-trained leader but also that the leaders believed it also and everyone came away learning new things regardless of how long they had been a GWRRA member.
Here is a quote from Dave Carter [past Region E Director and now Region E LTD Trainer] newsletter, “In Region E the LTD Trainers who have been given this task have until August 31, 2010 to get all Directors and Assistant Directors certified. The seminar is open to ALL members, not just officers.”
In NE we won’t set the date for training until after March 10th replies. However, as was sent out earlier, there are ample opportunities to take OCP - the soonest being in Des Moines, IA on March 20 and 21. Let Bill and Nancy James know by March 10 if you plan to go to Des Moines. If you have any questions at all about this program and the timing, give us a call.
