The Seven Wonders of Nebraska beckon tourists. All of these wonders are
 accustomed to attention, but their new acclaim comes from informal nominations
by Omaha-World-Herald readers (Sunday, December 23, 2007). So here are

CARHENGE
Old cars look like England's Stonehenge in a wacky
arrangement on the prairie. Created in 1987 near Alliance.

STATE CAPITOL BUILDING
Built from 1922 to 1932 , this architrctural symbol of statehood
is packed with murals, mosaics and other artwork to
represent the natural, social and political development of Nebraska.

BOYS TOWN
Orphaned and troubled youngsters live in a picturesque village that gained
 international fame with the 1938 movie "boys town," starring Spencer Tracy
and Mickey Rooney. Near 137th Street and West Dodge Road.

DESERT DOME AT HENRY DOORLY ZOO
A large geodesic dome on a hilltop showcases desert habitats from around
 the world and the animals that live there. At 3701 S. 10th St., Omaha.

NEBRASKA NATIONAL FOREST
The largest planted forest in the nation is now managed by the
 National Forest Service. Near Halsey.

GREAT PLATTE RIVER ROAD ARCHWAY
It looks like a decorative arch over interstate 80, but it's an interactive
 history museum, with life-size re-creations of American West scenes.
